VISION, MISSION and PHILOSOPHY of the COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTRE
Creativity, critical thinking, respect and community. These are the foundations of our vision at the CLC. We believe that learning should take place in a rich and and grow in community that our lives may contribute to a more thoughtful, caring and hopeful world.
The goal of the Community Learning Center is to act as a bridge between the classroom and the community. The Centre primarily serves local communities by educating children of families who value a “unschooling” education. We educate the whole person, nurturing the intellectual, physical and creative potential in each person.
Place-Based Education uses the local community and environment as the starting place for curriculum learning, strengthening community bonds, appreciation for the natural world, and a commitment to citizen engagement.
